The New Zealand men's doubles pairing of Finn Reynolds and James Watt have progressed to the quarterfinals at the Better Buzz Coffee San Diego Open ATP Challenger tournament.


Seeded second in San Diego Reynolds and Watt beat Jody Maginley (Antigua) and American Pranav Kumar 6-3, 6-0.

The New Zealand duo won 79 percent of their service points and were generally efficent in most areas of the match.


The Kiwis were just a couple of places out of making the main draw at the Australian Open and travelled to California to compete prior to the Davis Cup against Bosnia & Herzgovinia in two weeks in Whangarei.


Meanwhile Lulu Sun played in the Manilla WTA 125k tournament in the Philippines.


In just her second match of the year due to injury Sun lost to China's Lin Zhu 7-5 6-4.
