Bay Hawks see off Panthers in NBL

It was not a win for the Indian Panthers but they showed plenty of spirit for the first two quarters, hanging tough with the Hawke’s Bay Hawks.
Playing at home on Tuesday night, the Panthers kept the score locked after the first quarter at 23-23, before being behind by just four at halftime.

Eventually, the Hawks took the lead out to 20 heading into the final quarter and then a 103-88 victory in Pukekohe.
The Hawks now have a 5-3 record to sit fifth, while the first-year Panthers are yet to register a win.
West Australian Dan Grida led the Hawks with a game-high 27 points, followed by Darnell Cowart’s 21 points and teen Jackson Ball and Australian Wani Swaka Lo Buluk each had 18 points.

For the Panthers, Jaylen Gerrand scored 23 points, including five three-pointers from 13 attempts.
New Zealand veteran Leon Henry once again contributed, this time with 12 points and 12 rebounds.
The Hawks are away to the Manawatū Jets on Friday night, while the Panthers do not play again until April 26, also away to the Jets.
