However Ko did finish her second round with a 67 to go with her first round 68 and is tied ninth at Chandler, Arizona.

Ko had five birdies in her round, including an eagle on the 17th. She bogeyed just one hole, the 12th in a round which improved throughout the day to finish nine-under.

She is now just five shots behind the leader Lilia Vu from the United States.

For Fox the day started with five par holes before he birdied the sixth, seventh and eighth holes. He continued the trend on the back nine with birdies on the 12th and 13th to sit at seven-under overall

American Scottie Scheffler is the leader at 11 under having finished his round.
