Hockey New Zealand have confirmed a new CEO with former interantional Michelle Hollands taking on the role.


Hollands played 99 internationals for the Black Sticks Women representing New Zealand

at the Olympic Games, Commonwealth Games, and World Cups.

She has a degree in Physical Education, post graduate diplomas in Management/Sport Management, and a Master of Business Administration.


Over the past two decades, Hollands has been a business owner as well as holding executive leadership roles across sporting, commercial, and regional development sectors.


Her experience includes leading transformational strategies at organisations such as Sport Waikato and Te Waka, Waikato’s regional economic development agency. As a business owner, she has demonstrated strong commercial acumen and business development skills.


Through her Freshminds consultancy, she has also worked with leading national sporting organisations – including NZ Rugby, Rowing NZ, Basketball NZ and Hockey NZ—to design high-performance strategies, guide system-wide improvements and strengthen community engagement.


Hollands joins Hockey NZ on Wednesday 8 October. Acting CEO Ken Maplesden will continue to lead the organisation until then as well as working with Hollands on a managed transition after she starts
