Paul Coll defeated in semis by rival Asal

New Zealand squash pro Paul Coll has been beaten in the semifinals of the El Gouna tournament in Egypt.
Ranked fourth in the world Coll lost in four games 9-11, 11-4, 11-5, 11-6 in 76 minutes to current world No 1 Mostafa Asal of Egypt in a stop-start match with plenty of referee involvement.
LATEST HEADLINES:
Coll, 32 won the first game but fell away quickly as Asal upped the tempo and continued his strategy of getting under the skin of Greymouth player and frustrating him where possible.
Asala, 23 now has a 12-6 winning record over Coll, including their last five meetings.
Coll was aiming for his fifth final of 2025 after wins in Detroit and New Zealand and finalist finishes at the Australian Open and Optasia Open in London.
The next tournament for Coll is the PSA World Championships in Chicago 9-17 May.
