Chaos in NZ netball as more players move

Reigning ANZ Premiership champions the Tactrix as well as the Pulse have had their sides decimated by players shifting across the Tasman or to elsewhere.


Former Silver Ferns midcourter Whitney Souness has left the Pulse and become the eighth New Zealand netballer to join the Australian league, after signing with the Sydney-based Giants.


LATEST HEADLINES:


Kelly Jackson, Maddy Gordon are two of the other Pulse players to sign on for the Queenland Firebirds while shooter Tiana Metuarau is also leaving, potentially to the to the United Kingdom.


Steel stawart Kate Heffernan will also play across the Tasman at the Thunderbirds as well as Grace Nweke who is returning for her second season.


Former Silver Ferns Te Paea Selby-Rickit and Jane Watson have been signed in Australia next year while Karin Berger has departed for the Sunshine Coast Ligthtning and Ellie Bird has retired all from the Tactix.


Former Silver Fern captain Ameliaranne Ekenasio has confirmed she is leaving the Magic and is likely to play in Australia as well


However on the New Zealand front it's the Stars who had made the gain securing Silver Ferns shooter Amelia Walmsley from the Pulse for the 2026 ANZ Premiership


The Stars finished bottom of the 2025 ladder.but having Walmsley, 21 is a major bonus as she will be an ample replacement for the retiring Monica Falkner, the leaving Maia Wilson and Australian Shooter Charlie Bell.


The Howick College product began her netball jwith Stars' National Netball League side the Comets, under the tutelage of current Stars coach Temepara Bailey, before making her ANZ Premiership debut for the Tactix during the 2021 season.
