National champions Auckland City FC has confirmed Rudy Mozr as the club’s new Head Coach for the 2026 season, effective immediately.
Thirty-five-year-old Mozr recently completed his UEFA Pro License in Europe and takes over the reins from outgoing head coach Paul Posa, who successfully completed his agreed 12-month tenure.

Posa, 64 was in his second stint at the club and led the side at the inaugural 32-team FIFA Club World Cup tournament in the United States, where they played European agianst Bayern Munich and Benfica, and famously drew with Argentina’s Boca Juniors.
Prague-born Mozr has developed his coaching pathway across both Europe and New Zealand, including roles within Central European football environments and experience in the Northern League with Buckland’s Beach, Manukau United, and Bay Olympic.
As a player, Mozr progressed through the youth and reserve systems of several well-known European clubs including Admira Prague, Bohemians Prague, Dukla Prague, and FK Mladá Boleslav, before relocating to New Zealand where he represented Three Kings United and Eastern Suburbs AFC.
Auckland City FC Chairperson Ivan Vuksich said the appointment marks an exciting and progressive moment for the club.
“Rudy represents the new generation of highly qualified, modern coaches. His UEFA Pro License places him among the most credentialed coaches in the region, and his approach to football aligns closely with the identity we have built at Auckland City FC.
We were looking for a coach with energy, intelligence, and a clear footballing philosophy and Rudy brings all of that. We are excited about the future with him.”
Mozr brings a modern tactical outlook, a strong emphasis on player development, and a collaborative leadership style to the role as the club begins preparations for the 2026 season.
Speaking on his appointment, Mozr said he was honoured to lead one of Oceania’s most successful football clubs.
“I’m really excited to become the head coach of Auckland City FC. When the offer came, there wasn’t much to think about, this is a big club with global recognition, a strong identity, and a proud history of success. Being trusted with this role is something I truly value.
“New Zealand has been my second home for over 10 years, so returning with the experience I’ve gained in Europe feels special. The club has strong values and has been shaped by excellent work from previous coaches. My aim is to build on that foundation with a modern, ambitious approach,” Mozr said.
With the club successfully defending its OFC Champions League and National League Championship titles, Mozr knows that success is essential.
“This club has high expectations, and that’s a challenge I’m ready for. My aim is to help the team grow and play with confidence and purpose, a style of football that truly represents Auckland City FC’s identity and ambition.
“Most of all, I’m looking forward to connecting with the staff, the players, and the supporters. There’s a special energy around this club, and I can’t wait to get started on this journey together.”
Mozr will assume full control of the first team immediately as Auckland City FC begins its rebuild for the 2026 campaign.
