The Breakers mid-season winning run has fallen flat with a 12-point loss to South East Melbourne Phoenix in their NBL clash in Traralgon, Gippsland.


The 92-80 defeat gives the Auckland-based side a 7-11 record and seventh in the current standings.

Guard Parker Jackson-Cartwright led the visitors with 16 points, nine rebounds and six assists along with Rob Baker II also pulling in 16 while Izaiah Brockington made 12 and Tai Webster 10.


Australian international Nathan Sobey at age 35 was at his explosive best scoring 36 points for South East Melbourne to help the hosts remain third in the standings.


The Breakers had beaten the JackJumpers in their previous game in Auckland but were a little timid at times during this game.


The Breakers did lead late in the second quarter but they were trailing again 44-41 by halftime after Sobey dominated possession at both ends of the court..


The Phoenix extended their lead to 71-62 heading into the final quarter before pulling away to eventually win 92-80.


The Phoenix next play the Perth Wildcats on Thursday night with the Breakers remaining on the road against the Cairns Taipans on Friday.
