The Black Ferns Sevens beat Ireland in a game where Michaela Brake took the outright try-scoring record on the Women's World Sevens Series.


She required two tries to equal fellow Kiwi Portia Woodman-Wickliffe, but instead scored five tries, all in the first half, in the 58-7 win over Ireland at the Vancouver Sevens on Friday, to take the record to 259.

In their second game, 29-year-old Brake scored again as the Black Ferns accounted for China 38-7.


They will play the United States in their final pool match.


The All Blacks Sevens team have finished day one at BC Place with a win and a loss.


After a first-up 12-10 loss to South Africa, the All Blacks Sevens have seen off Australia 17-7 and will meet Ireland to wrap pool play on day two.
