Black Sticks women win place in World Cup

The Black Sticks women have claimed a penalty win over the Australian Hockeyroos to secure a place in next year's World Cup
The New Zealand side won 5-4 on penalties upsetting their Australian rivals 2-1 overall in the Oceania Cup in Darwin.

New Zealand won the first game 1-0 with the scores reversed in game two.

In the decider the home side led 1-0 until a late fourth quarter equaliser by Jessie Anderson sent the match into a shootout.
Black Sticks goalkeeper Grace O'Hanlon made a stunning save, to keep the side in the game before a perfect five-from-five effort in the shootout with star Olivia Shannon scoring the winner.
The New Zealand side is coached by former men's Black Stick Phil Burrows.
The Black Sticks men lost 4-1 to the Kookaburras after leading early through a Sam Lane goal.
However despite the loss the men have still qualified for the World Cup.
