The New Zealand SailGP Team's horror start to the SailGP season has continued on home waters.
After crashing out of the first fleet race in Perth a month ago, Peter Burling and Co collided with France in the third fleet race on Waitemata Harbour on Saturday, ending their participation in the NZ SailGP.
LATEST HEADLINES:
Black Foils grinder Louis Sinclair suffered compound fractures in both legs when the French entry collided with an out-of-control 'Amokura' boat, which had swerved right to avoid a collision with Italy and got off their foils.
Sinclair underwent surgery on his right leg overnight on Saturday, after further racing for the day was cancelled.
It had been a strong bounceback regatta for the Black Foils, finishing third in the first fleet race and winning the second in strong winds in Auckland.
New Zealand finished ninth for the weekend, collecting two points, which will be offset by a seven-point penalty for their collision with Switzerland in Perth.
The next regatta is the Sydney SailGP in two weeks, with the NZ team facing a race against time to repair their boat to get on the finish line.
