The Central Coast Mariners have caused an upset by defeating the Wellington Phoenix women 2-1 on a day where the wind and rain wreaked havoc at Porirua Park.

The Football Ferns have started the October international window and their North American tour with a 0-1 defeat to Mexico in Mexico City. 

Another strong signing for the Wellingt Phoenix with Football Ferns keeper Victoria Esson to play for the club after seven seasons in Europe.
