Raglan will host the world's finest professional surfers for nearly two weeks in May after being added as a stop on the World Surf League Championship Tour.

Raglan surfers Billy Stairmand and Maya Mateja have claimed the premier divisions of the 2026 National Surfing Championships north from Gisborne.

The 2026 National Surfing Championships will bring New Zealand’s surfing community together on the Gisborne coastline with one of the largest and most diverse fields in recent decades.
